Kelpis Shoes was established in 1972 at Fulham Road, London by Myrianthis Kelpis who was born in 1937 at Mesogi,Paphos,Cyprus. In 1954 he moved to UK so he could help his family members who stayed at Cyprus. In the, beginning, he started working in a shop, making and selling handmade shoes.
In 1962 he started working in a shoe factory in order to see how things worked in mass production. In 1972 he decided to open his own shop where he had the honour to meet and make hundred pairs of shoes for the Saudi Arabia Royal family.
He was also retained by Harrods for various commissions and made shoes for Rob Stewart, Roger Moore, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor and even for Royals as Princess Diana.
In 1988, he decided to return to Cyprus where he opened a shop in Paphos. He is still making shoes with his son George, who has followed him into the shoemaking trade after he completed his three-year studies at POLIMODA International Institute of Fashion Design & Marketing, Florence, Italy, as a footwear and accessories designer.
Now the elegance and the experience meet the innovative and new designs, ideas and materials. Shoes are a work of art whether for celebrities or for an old person who has never been able to wear shoes he or she liked, because of foot problems.
